These fuchsia Nina brand shoes are seriously the best looking fancy shoes that I have seen in quite awhile and oh how I wish that I needed this much height on my wedding day. Almost wish the wedding ceremony was indoors too... Alas though the shoes look amazing and are the PERFECT color, I won't be purchasing these shoes due to their height. Sadly, my dear sweet and sexy fiance isn't *that* much taller than me necessitating these heels.

I drew the pattern out on a couple of plastic placemats. Using my imagination, a sharpie marker, and a straight edge ruler. I am making one of these custom handbags for each of my eight girls (2 matrons of honor and 6 bridesmaids). Might even patch one together for myself. :)

Sewing Saturday

Sewing is relaxing for me. Stress comes in to play when I am trying to make something for someone as a surprise. The bag that I am workin on right now and hope to have completed before noon today does not have a particular owner in mind. So no stress. But I would like to make something for my amazing bridesmaids - all eight of them. Yep, just a teeny tiny bit of stress there. But good stress I suppose. :)

No carbs

I was talking with my boss the other day about how I was having a heck of time losing my tummy, how I can walk virtually all day long, and how I can lift and carry most anything. She told me that I needed to reduce my carbs to below 50 per day and to eat more protein plus fruits and veggies. Basically, I need to change my eating habits and not eat so much pasta and bread - two of my favorite food items. Upside is that after two days, I feel lighter. She recommended that I eat every three hours or so. So. High protein and high fiber foods are in my future and present. In appropriate daily amounts, of course.

I read that Giuliana Rancic adds Cayenne pepper to her water and so I tried it last night. Wow!!! If you like hot, you should try it. ;)

no birdcage for me

I had had my heart set on an antique birdcage to hold the cards at our reception but when I found this metal basket, my feelings changed.

I fell in love with the idea of filling it with hay-like paper shred and even putting a few faux chicken eggs inside. I think I am going to add a card inside just to show everyone what it is for but I think the metal basket will go with the overall theme of our wedding reception. Vintage... Rustic... Shabby Chic... Fun.

By the way, I found the above basket at Hobby Lobby and saved 50%. I heart those deals... when ya would have paid full price for something but instead saved some of that precious wedding budget money. *grin* Yep, I really like that.

I have my own collection of these wonderful old vases and am going to mix these in randomly with my centerpieces.

I am going for a shabby chic, vintage, rustic vibe for our wedding this August. I like items that have been around a while and have been loved. Perfect sentiment in my mind for a wedding. Especially ours.

Bridesmaid bouquets

I have eight bridesmaids and I just completed their bouquets. I am going to add ribbons closer to the big day. Their bouquets are dark pink hydrangea and my bouquet is teal hydrangea. My groom is going to wear a white boutonierre and the groomsmen will wear dark pink roses that match the girls' bouquets. I am going to add white roses to my bouquet to match my groom. The girls are wearing floor length dresses from David's Bridal in oasis. The guys are wearing black Calvin Klein tuxedos from Mens Wearhouse with oasis ties and vests. My groom and his best man are wearing bow ties and matching vests with their tuxedos.

*grin* This evening when I got home from work, my super fantastic fiance handed me a folded up piece of paper. On it was pictured two clear pink glass cake stands. He told me that they are mine. Hehehehe... He won the pair on ebay earlier today for me. YAY!!!

My collection of cake stands is up to six. I purchased one at Pier 1 Imports, another at the local antique mall, then two from two separate sellers on etsy, and now these two from ebay.

My sweet discovered an awesome teal glass cake stand on ebay and now, we're waiting for our offer to be accepted so that we might own that one as well.

I sent my love the rustic cake stand link that I posted earlier today and he has graciously consented to make one or more of these amazing items so that we can use them for his groom's cake.

I am so very happy that everything is coming together.

I found this pretty pink cake stand on etsy a few minutes ago and immediately fell in love with it. Yesterday was a wonderful day spent with my two favorite people - my daughter and my fiancé. Not a bunch of wedding stuff completed if any but oodles of quality time was enjoyed.

Today is absolutely gorgeous and a perfect day to be outside. I pulled weeds out of our front flower bed. My sweet fiancé setup the brand new jumbo sized mailbox that was purchased yesterday. *grin*. This is "ours" to start our married life together.

I snapped the photo of the snail for a variety of reasons but two ofthem are: 1. Good things come to those who wait. 2. Enjoy each moment.

I discovered the Lose it! App thanks to The Knot's Wedding 911 app. I added friends the other night but prior to that, was only doing it (keeping track of food intake) in a half a$$ed manner. After adding friends and actually weighing myself this morning, I have recommitted myself to weightloss with whole-hearted determination to lose a significant amount of weight before our late August wedding.

I ordered my wedding dress late last week and will happily pay to take in the dress or attempt to get it in a smaller size.

Since I decided that I am not going to send the invitations off to a calligrapher and I don't want to stress over writing names + addresses on more than seventy-five invitations, I looked into purchasing labels but discovered that a custom rubber stamp was a more economical choice.

My fiancé is the best

He contacted http://www.catholicswithoutachurch.com and set-up a meeting this afternoon with a prospective officiant. We met up at a Starbucks on our way back from our rodeo obligation. My dear fiancé told me that we going to meet his grandmother, which was totally believeable. Instead he surprised me with meeting our officiant, Father Milton.

I am so excited that he cared so much about helping me nail down this tough item on our to-do-list and surprising me with it... Well, *that* is so him. :)

Tuxedos

I should be more focused and concerned over who our officiant is or rather will be but at the moment the attire of my groom holds my attention. We have decided that he will wear a black tuxedo with a notch lapel. Solid black. With tuxedo pants, not Wranglers. I would prefer him in dress shoes as well but I will not fight him on his choice of shoes.

We were supposed to go to Men's Wearhouse in Houston tomorrow. We had an appointment and everything. Alas, we will reschedule due to a prior commitment that slipped my mind. Oh well, maybe we can carve some time out tomorrow before they close and check one more item off my list.

I have rediscovered Twitter since being gifted with my super awesome iPhone. And that rekindled relationship, introduced me to the Lose it! Application for the iPhone - a wonderful find for a bride-to-be who wants to drop a couple pounds before her "big day" and all of those photographs! Very expensive photos given that the photographer takes up such a big part of most wedding budgets. Now, the term "expensive" is all relative. I am used to having family and friends take photographs for "free". I highly recommend our photographer. Her prices are comparable with others in the field. I like her as a person as well as her photography style, which makes her the perfect photo person for us and our special once-in-a-lifetime day.

We have our caterer booked! Thank goodness for my dad. My parents live close and my dad came to town today. He talked with our first choice caterer at my request since I'm busy during the day with work, etc. My fiance and I have both eaten at the restaurant as well as various events with their food so needless to say, we don't require a taste test. Our quote is $7 per person plus tax for 175 guests. We are on their calendar and no deposit is required. We must give the final menu to the caterer on the Monday before the wedding and the final head count the day before the wedding.

A crafty bride (or anyone in need of a tasty treat) can score a great deal on a cake at Wal-Mart or Sam's Club.

In August 2008 while in McDonough, Georgia, I took this picture of a sign I saw at Wal-Mart advertising the low prices for their Filled Sheet Cakes.

Now, I haven't purchased a filled sheet cake from this particular Wal-Mart though I have bought their cupcakes, which were quite delicious. I have purchased cakes from Sam's Club at various locations in both Texas and Georgia with equally fantastic results.

My past experience with cakes and cupcakes from both Wal-Mart and Sam's Club enable me to highly recommend these deliciously inexpensive items without pause. Additionally, I have only ordered/purchased/eaten their cakes and cupcakes with buttercream icing and have not tried the whipped cream frosting selections.

Whether you choose to purchase from Wal-Mart (or Sam's Club) for your wedding cake or groom's cake, I am sure that you and your guests will be happy with your choice.

If you prefer to go with a bit fancier concoction, both Wal-Mart and Sam's Club might be able to accommodate as well. Stop by their bakery/dessert counter the next time you go in to pick up groceries or a last minute birthday gift or just to walk around and people watch. ;-)
